Summer Style Series // Hackwith Design House
We all have that favorite shirt in our closet.
The go-to piece that fits just the way you like it, goes with everything, and ALWAYS feels good.
Every article of clothing that Hackwith Design House creates fits into that category. Their casual, versatile, and chic collection not only fits like a dream, but is made in small production- meaning you’re one of the few people in the world that own that piece! We are so encouraged and inspired by Lisa Hackwith, the dreamer and founder behind the collection, and are excited to introduce her to you today!
Who you are / What you do / Why you do it: My name is Lisa Hackwith. I have a background in art; it wasn’t until after art school that I taught myself how to sew. I fell in love with the new medium and quickly immersed myself into the art of making clothing. I began selling clothing online in 2010 and four months later decided to quit my job to devote myself full time to Hackwith Design House. Over the last three years, I realized that I needed to design clothing that I loved and that would become staples in my own closet.
Every one of my designs is an expression of my aesthetic and the way I like clothing to feel. I delight in the details: the stitching, the color of the fabric, the way that it feels on your skin, the angle of the hemline, and always, my goal is to create the highlight of your closet. As the business has grown this last year, I have stayed true to that original mission, making clothes in Minneapolis, Minnesota, that both support the local economy while appealing to a national and international audience.
What excites you about 31 Bits: I love the way 31 Bits is helping people rise above poverty by doing something creative, something they love. It reminds me of that quote that you do not have to do great things but small things in a great way. Our everyday choices can impact the world for good. I love that 31 Bits is giving people a place to buy bright, colorful, fantastic jewelry and at the same time supporting people who are trying to improve their lives and pursue doing small things in a great way.
Your Goal this summer: Keep growing Hackwith Design House while spending the weekends at my parents cabin. It’s great to love what I do, and even greater to have the support of my friends and family and a place to go and relax with them.
Your 31 Bits Must Have: The Solstice Spark necklace is such a great statement piece!
