Ayesha Curry for 31 Bits

Our latest collaboration is with the inspirational chef, author, mama, and total boss, Ayesha Curry. She is an inspiration to all women, appreciating the “key ingredients in life,” including “food, faith, family and fitness.” She wears many hats as a businesswoman, believer, mama, and wife. It’s clear why we chose to collaborate with Ayesha. She’s determined, ambitious, and promoting positive change in the world through fashion and design.

Through the Designer + Inspirer program, we partner with influential women to design jewelry that reflects her values and promotes ethical fashion. Ayesha comments on the partnership stating, “I’ve been wanting to make affordable pieces that resonate with my supporters and me for quite some time. 31 Bits was the perfect partner for me, because the company is female-founded, they encourage people to shop ethically, and they provide a platform for communities of women in other countries where there’s a void.”

“I designed these pieces to wear who you are with pride.” – Ayesha Curry

Tell us a little bit about you!

I am a mom, wife, and all-around lover of food and family! I am beyond passionate about how it serves as the hub of all things love, community and strength. It gets people talking, people sharing, and gives people common ground. No matter where you reside in the world we can all relate to food.

How do you balance being a full-time mom and entrepreneur?

I say this all the time, but I truly have no idea what “balance” is. I don’t believe it actually exists. I stopped looking and searching for it and figured out ways to find beauty in the chaos and mess. I have three small children (6 years old, 3 years old, and 6 months) so something is always happening whether it’s work or home related. I try to make sure that when I am in mom mode, I am solely in that mind space, and when I need to work, I try my best to tackle the never-ending to do list.

What motivates you to keep going?

I absolutely love what I do. There are definitely times when I feel like I wish I could just stay home and be with my babies and that’s it, but I know I would have immense regret. I feel like God gave me purpose and I would be doing myself an injustice if I did not see it through.

Where did you learn to cook?

My parents had a lot to do with nurturing my love of food. I do, however, believe that the original Food Network stars taught me. Rachael Ray, Emeril, Bobby, Tyler, and Julia. They were my bedtime stories. I literally fell asleep from age 11 watching them, taking in every detail.

Do your kids enjoy cooking with you?

I love cooking with my kids. It’s my domain. I love the fact that I get to share what I know with them and build an incredible love of food and even better memories.

What was your dream job when you were young?

I wanted to be a pulmonologist (lung specialist) when I was younger. I was gifted with an anatomy set for Christmas and would play with it every day for like two years. Fast forward to 10th grade anatomy class, and it was a wrap. We had to dissect pregnant cat cadavers. I wasn’t grossed out or sick… I was just down right bored out of my mind.

Describe your necklaces and why you designed them.

I designed these pieces to wear who you are with pride. I’ve always loved wearing my mommy-hood with pride, and now I have my own affordable version available for all of the mama’s in my life. I also took my heart logo and made a decorative piece out of that.

How would you describe your style?

Relaxed and casual with the occasional edge. I am really into basics that I can run around in. I am still nursing, so comfort is key. When it’s girl’s night or date night, I’ll throw on some comfy heels or thigh-highs with something oversized and keep it moving.

What’s something people wouldn’t expect about you?

I am the biggest homebody. I could stay home every day and be the happiest person on the face of the planet. It takes a lot to get me out of the comfort of my own home. I feel like people wouldn’t expect that because of the way my Instagram looks, but all of my girlfriends would tell me that they force me out of the house for a good time. My response? Who says a good glass of wine, cozy jammies and the latest greatest series on Netflix isn’t a good time?!

What’s next for you?

I am re-launching my lifestyle website We’ve moved from our meal kit model into providing everything from my bedding, cookware, loungewear, baby food, and so much more. It’s going to be a one-stop-shop for all things home!

Ayesha designed six one-of-a-kind brass necklaces, handmade in Bali, that align with both her and our values to shop ethically, have faith, and cherish family. Four of the necklaces feature descriptive word charms, including FAITH, BOSS, MOMMY and LOVE.

Two of the necklaces are meant to be layered together, and express Ayesha’s signature heart charm. One simplistic on its own, made with hammered metal, and one with a heart and circle charm engraved with FAMILY.
