MEET CANDICE NIKEIA

1.What inspired you to create your blog/social platform?

While getting a second degree in Fashion Marketing and working non-fashion jobs, my blog was a great outlet for me to express and share my knowledge and research of fashion.

2. Where do you get your style inspiration?

I get my style inspiration from Pinterest and classy elements from the 80s and 90s, like a classic white button-down and jeans. My style icons are Anna Bey, Jackie Kennedy, Meghan Markle, Dorthy Dandridge, and Zendaya.

3. What is your go-to accessory during the holidays?

My classic black trench coat!

4. What is your favorite gift that you’ve ever received?

My parents have made every Christmas so special, but last year I got a Dyson vacuum and it is the best!

5. What are your favorite holiday traditions? Any favorite childhood holiday recipes or memories?

Growing up, my family did a Christmas Eve talent show. Everyone (including the parents) had to perform! It was so much fun. Another long-running tradition is our themed Christmas tree. Every year, we each choose a Christmas ornament. That ornament sums up your entire year. It’s so special to celebrate the ornaments from the current year and see the ornaments from years past.

6. Would you prefer a holiday season with snow or sunshine?

I prefer snow — but I don’t want to go outside and be in it, I just like to look at it! I’m laughing as I’m typing this, but it’s very true to my personality.

7. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a doctor because I love people and believed that being a doctor would allow me to meet and help lots of people, as well as have a good salary and a fabulous life. Looking back, I love that I thought being a doctor was the only way for me to achieve those goals. I’m not a doctor today, but my career allows me to do all those things and more!

8. What is your proudest accomplishment so far in your career?

A few of my proudest moments in life have been going full-time as an influencer, getting my own apartment, inspiring other people to take leaps of faith in their journeys of life, and starting a charity with my mom that helps women in need.

9. How do you set yourself apart on social media to further your career?

I started doing “Daily Affirmations” in my Instagram stories. I hadn’t seen other bloggers doing them and desired for my followers to feel inspired when they visited my page. Ultimately, this was the best decision for me and my community. I have gotten some great feedback and it blesses me to hear stories from others every single day!

10. Why are you choosing to shop ethically at 31 Bits this holiday season? And who are you shopping for at 31 Bits?

I love that 31 Bits is run by women, created for women, and helps women. I love that 31 Bits went to Uganda to share the love of God! This holiday season, I am shopping for my mother. She loves jewelry and anything with meaning. 31 Bits has so much meaning behind each one of their pieces!

11. What are some ways you slow down during the holidays and create meaningful moments?

I always go home to Indiana and spend time with my family. I turn off my phone and emails and just enjoy being with my parents and younger brother! This year, they are spending time with me in my new apartment and this will be my first time buying my own Christmas tree. We are all so excited!
