Lululemon x 31 Bits
This summer, we partnered with Lululemon to bring a new fitness experience to our artisans in Gulu, Uganda! We offer ongoing health courses for the Acholi women we work with in Gulu, including nutrition classes, psycho-social counseling, and physical fitness classes. With the help of Lululemon, we brought in Gulu’s finest yoga instructors and hosted a yoga class for our artisans!
The class practiced group yoga, connecting our team through different stretches and breathing exercises. The instructors also taught mindfulness and paying attention to what your body is telling you.
Many of the women we work with are both the primary caregiver and financial provider for their families. Their days can by physically and emotionally draining, so incorporating physical fitness classes is a priority at 31 Bits. Incorporating the practice of yoga into their lives is a great way to clear their mind after work and feel re-energized.
If you don’t know much about Lululemon, the company goes far beyond quality workout gear. They’ve built a global community around “healthy living, mindfulness, and living a life of possibility”… and yoga is at the center of who they are.
Lululemon not only provided yoga mats to our artisans, but gave each of them a t-shirt with our slogan, “how it’s made matters” embroidered on the back. We are so thankful for our partnership with Lululemon, and our artisans are thankful they have a way to continue practicing the art of yoga at home!
