A Tour of 31 Bits Uganda
We get a lot of questions about the day to day routine for the 31 Bits ladies in Uganda. Where do they work? What do they eat? How big is your compound? We wish we could fly you all out to Uganda, introduce you to the 31 Bits family, and personally walk you through the compound. But since we can’t do that… here’s the next best thing!
Our compound houses four huts, two office buildings, and one kitchen. Every inch of the space is utilized:
The women work in the huts,
Our managers and directors work in the offices,
Our cooks work in the kitchen,
And in between all of these buildings you find more women working outside…
And of course, children running around.
There is always something going on here, whether it is the laughter emanating from a hut or children playing mischievously out of sight from their mothers
Or our business manager Ray, teaching a lesson.
The women sit on mats in the huts and converse with one another throughout the day.
Charles, our guard, works at the gate and logs the times the women come in and out of work. He also maintains our grounds, and is very proud of his garden!
Our cooks, Joyce and Jennifer, cook lunch every day. Monday and Tuesday is beans and posho, and cassava is served Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
We have four quality control managers who check every finished piece of jewelry before it is shipped to be sold to ensure each piece of jewelry is up to the highest standards!
We hope this gives you a little insight into a day in the life of a 31 Bits beneficiary!
